Meditation: While we cannot ordinarily see God in Heaven during this life, he created visible heavens. The glories of these heavens symbolize the glory of the Heaven of heavens. These heavens are what we would now call outer space. This created a barrier between us on Earth and God in Heaven. We could not cross this barrier and be with God until we were mature enough. With the coming of Christ, the veil in the temple, which symbolized this barrier, was torn and now we can enter into the Holy of Holies in Heaven with God.
Psalm verse: The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork. (Ps 19:1)
Prayer: Thank you, O Lord, for the gift of the firmament.
Scripture: And God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” And God made the firmament and separated the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament. And it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day. (Gen 1:6-8)
