Meditation: After God created the world, He rested with creation. We are called now to rest with God once every seven days, until eventually we will rest with Him in an eternal rest. For the last month and a half, we have been reflecting on how creation points us to Christ. All things were made by, through, and for Him. Creation also gives us a chance to reflect on our own sins. Our sin destroys God’s good creation. When we see the beauty of creation, it should remind us of God’s goodness and cause us to weep over our own sins. These sins prevent us from entering into rest with God. Since God is a good God who loves mankind though, He has given us His Only-Begotten Son so that through faith in Him, we might be saved. As we continue on after these meditations, let us never cease to see God’s glory in all things and continually praise Him for His good creation.
Psalm verse: May the glory of the Lord endure for ever, may the Lord rejoice in his works, who looks on the earth and it trembles, who touches the mountains and they smoke! I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being. May my meditation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord. Let sinners be consumed from the earth, and let the wicked be no more! Bless the Lord, O my soul! (Ps 104:31-34)
Prayer: Thank you, O Lord, for all the gifts of creation. May we rest with You eternally in Heaven one day.
Scripture: Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God finished his work which he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and hallowed it, because on it God rested from all his work which he had done in creation. (Gen 2:1-3)
