Meditation:
The philosopher Aristotle teaches us that the whole creation is ordered towards God, and moves out of love for God. The Psalmist teaches us that same truth in a spiritual way, as he calls upon the whole creation to praise God. Since mankind is endowed with rationality and freedom, we can praise God in a way even greater than the creation can.
Psalm 69:30-34
I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving. This will please the Lord more than an ox or a bull with horns and hoofs. Let the oppressed see it and be glad; you who seek God, let your hearts revive. For the Lord hears the needy, and does not despise his own that are in bonds. Let heaven and earth praise him, the seas and everything that moves therein.
Prayer:
Christ is risen from the dead,
By death trampling down on death,
And to those in the tomb,
He has granted life!
