Meditation:
When God creates Eve, she is built (Hebrew banah) from the side of Adam (Gen 2:22). Banah is next used to describe the creation of the first city (Gen 4:17). If the first parallels the first Eve, then the last city, the New Jerusalem, parallels the last Eve, the Ever-Virgin Mary. The Psalmist tells us that the perfect beauty of the Theotokos points us to the glory of God.
Psalm 50:1-2
The Mighty One, God the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting. Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth.
Prayer:
Christ is risen from the dead,
By death trampling down on death,
And to those in the tomb,
He has granted life!
